This Spring, I had the distinct honor to teach art to a very fine crop of students at Jackson Elementary School in ElDorado Hills, California, as a part of the Visiting Artist Series created by Arts & Culture El Dorado County. With three different classrooms for each grade and twenty-five students in each group, I was able to connect with 225 students, their teachers, and school staff as part of a Visiting Professional Artist Program, created in conjunction with Arts & Culture ElDorado County. Reflecting my own breadth of art experience, I delivered three varrying 1-hour projects each in; Collage to the 1st graders, Nature Observation & Drawing/Watercolors to the 3rd graders, and Printmaking/Embossing to the 5th graders. There is NOTHING like being greeted and thanked gleefully by a bunch of art-loving, excited youngsters. I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed every moment from beginning to end. Plus, I got to live my dream of wearing a tie to work every day!
